I talked to Mike. He said they are working on getting things cleaned up &
going again. The wiring was messed up, water pipes were leaking & the
list could go on. They had a fellow stop in from another mission who is
a structural engineer & he said the main house is safe to work in but not
to sleep in. The corners don't have cracks but there are quite a few
cracks other places that will need to be reinforced somehow to make it
safe again. Getting the front wall fixed though will be their first
priority. They are still having tremors, just this morn. they had
another one. They are able to buy fuel again which we are very thankful
for. Please pray for wisdom & protection for the ones there. Joy Yutzy

I talked with Dwaynes last evening for a few minutes. He was picking my brain on how the second floor was attached to the first floor in the main building. He was wondering about re-bar schedule, placement and such-like... I tried to remember and told him what I remembered or thought I remembered, but I reminded him it was 9 years since I was there!
ReplyDeleteWhile we were talking he said,"hey!the ground is shaking right now! Enough to rattle the roof..." At that point our conversation was cut off.
A few minutes later They called back to say everything is still fine.
For those of you familiar with Leogane, He said that the whole front wall is pretty much down to original (the stone part) height.
how sad that people are trapped in there houses
